How do you keep score for different games?

An online scoreboard keeps team or player scores in one live, easy-to-read view. Add teams on a phone, tablet or laptop, then tap + or − to record points; there is nothing to install or sign up for. It works for pickup sports, board games, trivia nights, classroom points and other games where you need to compare totals.

Every team gets its own row with a color marker, an editable name, a rank badge, and large +/− buttons next to the score. Tap the name to rename a team, tap the color dot to cycle to the next color in the palette, or tap the score itself to type an exact number — handy for correcting a mistake or entering a score that was kept somewhere else. The step size for +/− defaults to 1 but can be switched to 5, 10, or any custom amount, which matters as much for a golf scramble that only moves in whole strokes as it does for a trivia night awarding 5 points a round. Scores can go negative too, so it works just as well for games where players lose points as for ones where they only gain them.

Ranks update the moment a score changes, using standard competition ranking — ties share a rank and the next distinct score skips ahead accordingly (1, 2, 2, 4) — but the rows themselves never jump around while you are mid-game. That keeps your thumb in the same place for the team you are tracking even after a late comeback. When you do want the list sorted by score, whether to read out final standings or to hand the phone to someone else, the toolbar has a one-tap "Sort by score" action, plus High-first and Low-first ordering for anything from basketball to golf.

Made a mistake? Undo goes back up to 50 steps, covering every score change, edit and reset, and Ctrl+Z (or Cmd+Z on a Mac) works too. Reset asks for confirmation before it zeroes every score, and even that can be undone if you tap it by accident. When it is time to show the room, Big screen mode puts a large, automatically sorted scoreboard on a TV or projector with a QR code for anyone who wants to follow along on their own phone, and everything you have entered stays saved in this browser so a refresh, a closed tab, or a dead phone battery never costs you the game.

Built for the sideline, not a spreadsheet

Big screen mode

One tap puts a large, auto-sorted scoreboard on a TV or projector, with a QR code so players can follow along on their own phones.

Every score change, edit and reset is undoable up to 50 steps back, and Ctrl/Cmd+Z works from the toolbar too.

Questions

Do I need an account to use the scoreboard?

No. Open the page and start scoring — teams, scores and settings are saved in your browser automatically, with no sign-up required.

Can scores go below zero?

Yes. Scores can range from −99,999 to 99,999, which covers games like golf where strokes count against you as well as ones where you only gain points.

How many teams or players can I track?

Up to 50 teams at once, each with its own name, color, rank and score. Use "Add team" in the toolbar to add more, or remove teams you no longer need.

Does the scoreboard reorder while I am entering scores?

No. The row order you set stays put while you are actively scoring, so your thumb always lands on the right + button. Rank badges update live, and a one-tap "Sort by score" action reorders the list whenever you actually want that.

What happens if I make a mistake?

Tap Undo (or press Ctrl/Cmd+Z) to step back up to 50 changes, including score edits and a full Reset. Reset itself asks for confirmation before it zeroes every score.

Can I show the scoreboard on a TV or projector?

Yes. Big screen mode shows a large, auto-sorted scoreboard with a QR code so other people can follow along on their own phones while you keep scoring from yours.

Will I lose my scoreboard if I close the tab or refresh the page?

No account is needed. Teams, scores, the step size and sort order are saved in this browser, so refreshing or reopening it normally restores the game. The data stays on this device; clearing site data or switching browsers can remove or leave behind the locally saved scoreboard.

Can I use this online scoreboard for different sports and games?

Yes. The scoreboard is a general score keeper rather than a rules engine for one sport. Use it for pickup basketball, soccer, volleyball, golf, board games, trivia, classroom points, or any activity where you need to compare totals. Add team or player names, choose score increments that fit the game, and enter exact values when you need to correct a score.

Can I enter a score directly instead of tapping plus and minus?

Yes. Tap a score to type the exact value. This is useful when starting midway through a game, correcting a score from a paper record, or recording a large jump without repeatedly pressing a button. You can also choose a step of 1, 5, 10, or a custom amount for the plus and minus controls.

What happens when two teams have the same score?

Teams with the same score share a competition rank. For example, a tie for second place is shown as 2, 2, and the next team is ranked fourth. The scoreboard does not decide a game-specific tiebreaker; use the rules of your sport or event to determine the winner when totals are tied.
